A fruit vendor and a corporate – Mission 0 plastics

This is an experience shared by one of our Enivro Managers Amit, from India.

Today morning when buying fruits from the street vendor, we go talking about the damage of plastic carry bags – that are to be seen almost everywhere we go. He agreed that it was a harmful product. And was pretty intrigued when I told him about an alternate to plastic bags is now available. What he said next was pretty interesting though.

The fruit vendor said I have a shop within the premises of a very large corporate campus. He was talking about the L&T campus in the city. For those not from India, L&T is one of the most admired large sized corporate houses in India with diversified interests including construction, information technology, etc.. The vendor then went on to explain that L&T has a policy that no vendor is allowed to use plastic bags on their campus. Essentially a zero-tolerance policy for plastic. It was amazing to hear this. What a beautiful policy.

Let us hope and pray that this policy is adapted by other corporates, institutions, and organizations.

A call to all leaders – kindly consider this appeal – please make policies that will save the planet.

Say no to plastic bags
