FAQ

What is a Bag ?

Unlike standard plastic bags, and even some biodegradable plastic bags, compostable bags are made of vegetable matter, such as corn starch. When exposed to enough moisture, the bags will compost, right along with whatever was placed inside them.

Difference between biodegradable bags and compostable bags ?

Biodegradable bags are often still plastic bags that have microorganisms added to break down the plastic. compostable bags are made of natural source only, and do not produce any toxic material.

Compostable bags break down readily in soil or water through natural activity to form compost.

Why should we not use plastic bags ?

Plastic bags are often mistaken for food by animal, birds, and marine life. The consumed plastic congests the digestive tracts of these animals, and can lead to health issues such as infections, painful intestinal blockage, starvation or death by suffocation.

How are compostable and plastic bags made ?

Compostable bags are usually made from plants like potatoes or corn instead of petroleum. which can easily decompose in a few months and they are totally harmless to mankind and living organisms. Traditional plastic bags are usually made from polyethylene, which consists of long chains of ethylene monomers. ethylene is derived from natural gas and petroleum.

Is it expensive to buy compostable bags ?

There may be small differences in price of these two products. But these very small amounts can change the environment of the world and can help to heal nature again.

Which is better: biodegradable or compostable? Is biodegradable more eco-friendly than compostable?

No, a biodegradable product is not better for the environment than a compostable product. That’s because biodegradable products can still be made of chemical plastics whereas compostable products are typically made from plants.

How long do compostable bags take to decompose ?

Compostable bags take between 3-6 months to decompose fully. Micro particles from plastics can take several hundred years.
